Every year a group of me and my closest girlfriends go on a yearly trip for the past seven years. We have been to Virginia Beach, Puerto Rico, Miami, Disney World, Ocean City in Maryland, Atlantic City to start the summer off right. This year we broadened our horizons to Europe to celebrate a big birthday. We booked our trip and off we went to Italy.
We left April 28, 2011 for six days destined for Florence. This was my first trip to Europe and my biggest question was…What do I pack? Maxi Dresses or Jeans? Flats or sneakers? OH, What is a girl to do?! Off to the drawing board…
Where we are we staying: Florence
Where are we traveling to: Rome, Milan and Venice
What are the special events: Last night Birthday Dinner
Day 1: Travel Day from New York to Florence and an 8 hour flight. I needed something comfortable and convertible. So I went with a draped T-shirt twin set in a Red Ochre color and back pocket jeggings. Chic and sweet just the way I like it!
Day 2: Exploring Florence, our home base.
The Duomo, the Baptistry in honor of John the baptist, and the famous Gelato. Where do I visit first? I love maxi dresses because they create a feminine silhouette that is comfortable. It’s great with flats and heals…totally your choice. Have fun with this combo, but be careful of proportions. Don’t do a crop jacket or sweater that ends at your widest part. Mine ends at my waist, where it gets smaller.
Day 3: More of Florence
A nice travel outfit, that is nautical classic. This is the outfit I wore to visit the Uffizi and the Academia museums. The art was beautiful, especially the ones that depicted bible stories. The life of Jesus Christ was certainly appreciated in this culture.
- Day 4: Milan…Gucci, Prada and Louie oh my!
- I like to pair the softness of the water color printed maxi dress with the sporty cocoon jacket. The yellow necklace again helps bring the colors in the dress. This is the look I entered Milan in. The shopping area was a work of art!
- Day 5: Rome…Such a historically rich city!
- Don’t be afraid to where neutral colors. I like to add a punch of color in my accessories to add interest. Check out my hot yellow chain and simple sun glasses. Great for traveling in style.
Day 6: Wine Country and a night out
You can’t visit Italy and not go to a vineyard! We went to the Chanti vineyard in Tuscany. The fields are green and luscious with lots of history. Plus, who doesn’t like wine tasting? So for my wardrobe, I chose a green maxi halter dress in honor of the green hills.
The last night out, we traditionally have a special dinner. This year I decided to love me more. In honor of that I have been trying to show off the parts of me that I like the least. One of those body parts are my arms. This is a big step for me, that I am proud to be able to share with you.
Florence, Italy was a great place to visit. I’m glad that we got there before “The Situation” for Jersey Shore did. This way we can know a before and after of the city. I love the culture and art! It is a country that I would recommend everyone to visit.
Thank you for virtually traveling Italy with me and I hope that you will enter the next adventure with me.
Peace, love and all that good stuff!
